Archive for February, 2008

I received my Ravelry invite last night and couldn’t resist staying up an hour later than planned to set things up. I am apparently turning into a knitting geek But I can be found here and I’ve already joined a scary number of groups and input a couple of the projects that I’ve [...]

Books and advertising

A recent post in Michelle Sagara’s blog about books, publishers and promotion got me thinking a little. I don’t know about you, but I always feel distinctly weird when I see adverts for books on TV. They’re usually ads for stuff by “authors” like James Patterson, but it still feels weird.
Advertising a TV show or [...]

So in addition to the colleague who has been sick since Monday and the two colleagues on holiday, another colleague is now sick. It appears to be a different virus from the flu that the other colleague has, but I’m starting to think that we need Hazmat suits to work here. They’re dropping like flies!

This morning, when I opened my curtains, I got a bit of a shock when I looked out at blue skies, bright sun and green grass. For a week I’ve been looking out at white snow and grey skies and that has become almost normal to me. To be back in a country that thinks [...]

Safely arrived

It wasn’t one of the greatest flights ever, but I’ve arrived at last!
We were forty-five minutes late leaving Canada (the runway needed ploughing and the aeroplane needed de-icing) and although we made up the time during the flight, we then circled Heathrow for ninety minutes. Hooray! There is always this point in coming back where [...]

Last day blues

Today is the last day of my holiday. I fly out tonight and this part of the holiday always makes me sad. Mum and I are kind of half-heartedly thinking about packing, but we’ll get onto it properly this afternoon. We had a leisurely breakfast because the contractors weren’t due to arrive until 10am and [...]
