When I got back from England, I made a decision that I’d get a bit better with my food planning and budgeting. Every week I was spending too much on food and ending up with far more than I needed, often ending up throwing things away. I’d write a list without any real idea of [...]

I must be insane

Today I drove to work. I must be insane.
This would be due to the snow (that is not *light* snow, damn it!), the blowing snow and the distinct lack of ploughing everywhere.
I thought the lack of ploughing was just where I lived, but the main roads were actually worse and I am trying to shut [...]
Silly kittens

Note to self: must make Kate and Annie icon.
I accidentally left the downstairs bathroom door open a few minutes ago. Pure oversight. The door is kept closed so that my little girls don’t cause too much havoc and mayhem.
A couple of minutes later I heard the familiar sound of kittens playing with the cord for [...]
Update on shoulder/back situation

I believe that I have identified the source of all that pain I had Thursday evening/Friday.
Sometime during Wednesday night I dislocated my left shoulder blade, trapping a nerve and straining the muscles and tendons in the area.
How did I know this? Well, on Friday afternoon I was trying to stretch and mobilise the shoulder so [...]
OK, now I’m annoyed

So yesterday I felt achy and ick when I got up, my back was grumbling and I wasn’t happy.
The slight twinging in my upper back, just under the left shoulder blade, didn’t seem that important.
Things seemed to settle as the day went on and I got cocky enough to think that I’d make it to [...]
Did anyone get the number of the truck that hit me?

My body has been so well behaved these last few months that I’d almost forgotten what it could do.
Damn.
My back isn’t actually excruciating yet, but I can feel pressure, inflammation and discomfort there. It’s not pleasant and it’s promising to get worse. Put together with pain in hips and knees, and the pain that’s just [...]
It’s been a while…

Today was one of *those* days. One of the ones where you’re rushing around trying to hit deadlines with dozens of things in the way and confusion abounding so that you feel as though you’ve run a marathon by the time you get home (half an hour late).
Yeah.
It’s been a while since I’ve had one [...]
Snow bad, knitting pretty

Despite being after March 21st now, the sky had the audacity to produce sufficient white stuff overnight that I had to shovel this morning.
Shovel. In late March. Blech. I would have left it to melt as the temps are going up a lot later this week, but the plough kindly dumped a mass of frozen [...]
Book stash

This evening I decided that it would be a good idea to enter all the books sitting on my coffee table into LibraryThing. These are all the books that have entered this house on or since Christmas Day and I’ve been looking at the piles feeling slightly worried for a while.
Er, it turns out that [...]
Stuff and stuff

In knitting news, the hat that was going to be my knit night project was far quicker to knit that anticipated. So quick that I finished it (and seamed it) last night. Oops. It’s beautiful, though, and only took one skein of yarn instead of the two specified in the pattern so I now have [...]
