We’re all crazy after all

Tonight was Pub Night with the girls and we also decided to have a meal at the pub. Yummy.

I do not feel in the least bit guilty about being thorough unadventurous for once with my scampi and chips πŸ™‚

In discussion with the girls, we had a sharing session on all of our silly quirks that we’d be too embarrassed to tell anyone else. My conclusion is that we’re all as crazy as each other and need to be certified!

That’s what friends are for, though πŸ™‚

If only holidays were longer

Somehow, the effort of recovering from the bank holiday, in terms of stuff to do at work, seems to cancel out any benefits of having the four days off.

Working for a retail organisation would have a lot to do with that. Easter and retail always equals busy, even if you’re working at head office rather than in a store.

Still, at least I’m getting to spend today buried in code after two days of writing reports.

Last night was the second pub night with The Girls and we’ve concluded that we just need to book all Wednesdays out as pub night. Much fun and plenty of chattering.

The holiday was great – lots of time with the family, lots of relaxation and plenty of reading. I even managed to get some studying done, too. It was surprising just how good I felt on Monday and I realised that, for the first time in ages, I wasn’t tired. You can plough on being tired, just get on with something, not realising how drained and exhausted you are until you have a few days of rest and discover what it’s like to not be tired.

As to the reading:

Phoenix and Ashes (Elemental Masters, Book 3)

Lois McMaster Bujold

The Mercedes Lackey was very good – absorbing but quite light reading. The Bujold I’m three-quarters of the way through and enjoying it immensely. It’s set in a new world and she managed to make it quite different from the Chalion books while being distinctively Bujold.

Pub night re-instituted

Last night, I went out to the pub with The Girls for the first time in…well…a very long time. It used to be a weekly tradition, but fell by the wayside more recently as people moved away, acquired jobs with long hours and had health problems.

But it’s back! And as much fun as I remember πŸ™‚ Lots of girly chatter, (non-alcoholic) beverages, hot chocolate and the temptation of the pub’s excellent puddings. Lovely way to spend the evening.

Although I am now rather tired, due to the lateness of our evening.

Thankfully, the Easter bank holiday starts this evening so who cares if I’m shattered today? I’ve got four days to recover!

In the meantime, I’ve been asked to leave my clever code work alone for a day and put together a PowerPoint presentation for Da Boss. Well, it’s a different way to spend the day.

And hopefully something that will allow me to leave early enough to not hit the holiday traffic tonight
